Ballet Pensacola Presents “Aladdin”
Ballet Pensacola invites you to Aladdin-a tale of love, trickery and triumph! Bring the entire family to enjoy the adventures of Aladdin as he attempts to win Princess Jasmine’s affection while staving off the evil sorcerer Jafar! Performances are April 20, 21, 27, 28 at 7:30 p.m. and April 22 at 2:30p.m. at the Pensacola Cultural Center.
Aladdin will feature intricate stage displays and special effects, including a magic carpet ride! Ballet Pensacola’s interpretation of the classic story of Aladdin will be set to the contemporary music of E.S. Posthumus.
“Aladdin is a classic story, but an atypical ballet” said Artistic Director Richard Steinert whom choreographs and directs the show. “Telling this story through dance is a challenge that will bring out the best in our company, from the dancers to the set designers.”
Aladdin also marks the last main stage performance for Principal Dancer Kayla Bartlett, whom plays Jasmine. Kayla has been dancing with Ballet Pensacola for seven seasons, often playing lead roles such as the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker, Odile in Swan Lake and Mina in Dracula.
“I’m thankful for the opportunities the community of Pensacola has provided me,” said Kayla. “I will always cherish the years that I’ve spent dancing in Pensacola and look forward to my final role as Jasmine in Aladdin!”
Single ticket prices start at $25 and may be purchased through the Pensacola Cultural Center Box Office at 850-432-2042 or www.pensacolalittletheatre.com.
