FDA clears diabetes drug Avandia story image


More people can now use the diabetes drug Avandia. The FDA has lifted its restrictions and cleared the drug for widespread use.

The agency limited Avandia back in 2010 after studies showed it was linked to an increased risk of serious heart problems. It was only accessible to patients with type two diabetes who couldn't control their illness with other medicines.

But now new research shows the drug is no more dangerous than other diabetes medications.FDA clears diabetes drug Avandia
