HEALTH WATCH: Emergency rooms busy with children
Spring is in the air. That means, spring sports are starting and kids are just itching to go outside and play! But that also means more bumps and bruises.

It may not feel like spring quite yet but it's the time of the year we see tons of kids playing outside and playing sports. Playgrounds may look like lots of fun but they can also be dangerous.

Epic fail videos can sometimes be entertaining to watch.

These falls can lead to some pretty bad injuries. Fortunately, none of these kids were seriously hurt but each year, thousands of kids land in the ER from similar falls.

Breslin Rose knows bumps and bruises.

"He's a little bit adventuresome."

Three-year-old Jamison often thinks he's superman!

"He's fallen but nothing too traumatic. He knows his limits."

Jamison is lucky and has never broken anything. But that's not always the case.

Falls often lead to broken bones.

Doctors say each day, 20 children die from a preventable injury.

"It's falling out of trees, it's springtime so where do kids go, playgrounds, they have monkeybars they have swings."

Dr. Stephanie Duggan is the medical director of Sacred Heart Emergency Room. Her son broke his arm attempting to fly down the stairs.

"You can see this was so broken they ended up pining it."

Dr. Duggan says the top injuries during this time of year are falls from the playground,

The top sports sending kids to the E.R are cheerleading, soccer, and football.

They also see plenty of animal bites, making sure things are never quiet in the E.R.

So how do you know if it's just a bad bruise or it's a break?

"Another trick with a broken bone, they will have pain at a specific site. If they have soreness all along the arm, push along and see if there is a specific spot where it gets tender."

Doctors say you don't need to stop all the fun, but the best prevention is supervision.HEALTH WATCH: Emergency rooms busy with children's Springtime injuries
