Gaetz: Afghanistan bombing shows Trump's commitment to eradicate ISIS
Congressman Matt Gaetz said President Donald Trump's decision to drop the "Mother Of All Bombs" on Thursday shows his deep commitment to completely destroy ISIS worldwide.
"Today, President Donald Trump ordered a bomb to be dropped on dangerous ISIS tunnels and cave network in the Nangarhar province of northeastern Afghanistan," Gaetz said in an official released statement. "This location has been an ongoing source of terrorist activity, and is where Staff Sergeant Mark De Alencar was killed by ISIS fighters on Saturday, April 8th."
Staff Sergenat De Alencar was a member of the Green Berets and assigned to 1st Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group. They were based at Eglin Air Force Base in Okaloosa County.
The "Mother Of All Bombs" or "MOAB" is a 21,000-pound bomb and the largest non-nuclear weapon in the arsenal of the U.S. It was tested at Eglin.
Gaetz adds that the president's decision highlights our military's need for expanded testing facilities, including the Gulf Test Range south of Eglin.
