Web Extra: Rep. Matt Gaetz talks fiscal discipline, Obamacare with WEAR ABC 3
There were eight spots open for Republicans on the Armed Services Committee and more than 50 Republicans seeking those appointments. Rep. Matt Gaetz was able to secure a spot - following in the footsteps of his predecessor, Jeff Miller and many who came before.
"For more than 70 years, Northwest Florida's member of Congress has been on the Armed Services Committee or the Defense Appropriations Committee so I'm very proud to continue that legacy and it's essential because the military mission is the bedrock of our local economy."
Gaetz has also been placed to the House Budget Committee.
"I've been placed on the Budget Committee to really try to reinforce that fiscal discipline," Gaetz said. "Tomorrow I'll be voting for the Budget Committee to begin the process to repeal Obamacare."
