PANAMA CITY, Fla. (AP) A stray dog is on the road to recovery days after being shot in the Florida Panhandle.
Lucky Puppy Rescue president Terri Mattson says the golden retriever mix dubbed Bo remained groggy but is expected to recover from the shooting and surgery on Saturday. She says he still has a bullet lodged in his hind leg.
Mattson says her agency has brought food to Bo and two other stray dogs for two years. But on Saturday, Bo was curled in a heap when the volunteers arrived.
The News Herald reports Bo was taken to Critter Care in Panama City.
Mattson says she's looking for a foster home that deals with feral dogs to care for Bo. At some point, they hope to place Bo for adoption.
An investigation continues.
