Angels in Our Midst (Cathy Bryers)

ESCAMBIA COUNTY - She is the heart and soul of a North Escambia County High School.

Some of the students call her Miss Cathy, some call her Aunt Cathy... some, call her mom.

No matter what they call her, she's the Angel in their Midst.
Come on. Dimes. All right. Thank you, guys.
Cathy Bryars is not only the custodian, she's a top fund raiser and the children's champion at Northview High School.

Look a there. Thank you.
It's no wonder that when the school started an employment program for exceptional students, they turned to miss cathy.

Yeah, when you walk in the closet, where Mr. Billy's is...
Cathy; I want them to know that they can fit into society. Even if they're ESE or have some type of handicap, they're just like any of the other children.

Did I miss something? Look, look right there. I missed it.
You missed that gum anyway, didn't you.

Brandon Scott, Northview Custodial Staff; Teach us how to do good stuff. How to work and everything so later on in life when we get a job, we know how to act.

Miss Cathy wants every child to enjoy the high school experience; an experience she didn't have.

Cathy; My grandparents raised us and we didn't get to participate in a lot of things. My grandpa was blind and my granny didn't drive. And you know, I want them go have good memories.

Every year, she compiles a scrapbook of all of those special moments. Miss Cathy actually helps create many of those.

Chris; To the football game and the Hero Awards and the prom.
Those are the places Miss Cathy took Chris his senior year. Raised in Foster Care, he has no family.

Cathy; Whenever the prom is, I hold that date open. If they don't have transportation, I take them.
She dresses them too.

Chris; A brown tux and a pink flower. And I danced all night.
Cathy; This is what God wanted me to do. He gave me the means to provide for them or to help them when they've needed help.

To have no children of her own, Miss Cathy hears these words a lot.

Chris; Thank you for being my mom, Ms. Cathy.
