Angels in our Midst (Hope Ministry)

PENSACOLA - The Associate Pastor at Northridge Church in Pensacola has been a part of mission work around the world.
Some months ago, a particular scripture led him to a mission field closer to home to do the work of the Angels in our Midst.

Pastor Randy Hamil, Hope Outreach Ministry.;  "The word of God says go, to start with Jerusalem, Judea, Symaria and then the ends of the earth.  This is Jerusalem for me."
So, Pastor Randy Hamil has assembled an army at the Hope Outreach Center.  Their mission; to feed the hungry in their Jerusalem.
Char Atwood, Hope Ministry Volunteer;  "I do a lot of the cooking.  I had culinary arts a little bit in my background so it's something that I really  like to do.  And then I really enjoy going down and meeting the people."
They prepare and deliver meals every Tuesday and Thursday, feeding almost 400 people each week.  The mission started in the Frontera Cricle area and has spread.
Pastor Hamil;  "There's just some people, there's just not enough money to match the month."
And what about the weekends for children who count on school lunch sometimes for their only meal?  The Hope Warriors started preparing Friday take-home bags for the children at Hallmark, Allie Yniestra, Spencer Bibbs and Montclair Elementary Schools.
Pastor  Hamil;  "It's just a small quantity of food which has oatmeal, granola bar, a drink in it, mac and cheese, roman noodles or something like that; basic sustenance that we take for granted."
They don't just drop and go, they spend time with the children and families and the things they have seen and heard.

Pastor Hamil;  "One child came to school with his clothes wet  because he wanted to wash them but he didn't have any way to dry them.  So, he just wore them wet to school."

Char;  "It breaks my heart.  It  really breaks my heart.  I go to bed at night and I think about that.
And I think, we have starving children right here in our own city."

If there isn't enough money for food, you can imagine there's not much for home repair.  The Hope Missionaries do what they can there as well.
Hamil.;  "We believe that God called us to go out and to be His hands and His feet and not to wait for someone else to do it."
They will also share the Word while they're out but they know it is their work that will speak for them when they leave.

Char;  "I want to leave them hope."
Hamil.;  "Once they see our hands and what we're doing, then they'll know our hearts."
