Tropical Storm Bertha formed over the Atlantic Thursday night and is heading west-northwest.  It has winds of 45 miles per hour and is not forecast to become a hurricane. The storm is not forecast to move into the Gulf of Mexico.

Plane barely misses man sunbathing on beach

A sunbather was barely missed by a landing plane. The story, posted on the New York Times website, said the pilot, 52-year-old Juergen Drucker, later apologized for the potentially fatal mistake."I'm very sorry. The man on the beach I could not see, but I am glad nothing happened to him," he told German newspaper Bild, according to"I noticed immediately that it was too low. The man on the beach was incredibly lucky," he added.The low-flying plane just misses the half-naked man before plowing through a wooden fence and landing on a nearby runway.Drucker said that his plane would need some repair work.
