Downtown business benefits from baseball season

Updated: Saturday, April 26 2014, 06:57 PM CDT
Blue Wahoos fans are not the only ones excited about the season opener.
But businesses downtown say they're ready to bring in some additional revenue.

A gorgeous Thursday for some baseball.
Fans flooded into Pensacola Bay Front Stadium to watch the Blue Wahoos take on the Tennessee Smokies in the first game of the season.
Restaurants like Tin Cow are hoping the thousands at the stadium bring their wallets downtown.

"Well it's exciting because it brings people from all over," said Tin Cow manager, Stephanie Kopazz.

Kopazz says once the season kicks off, she notices an increase in revenue.
The restaurant was crowded before the game with people grabbing a quick bite to eat..  And many people usually come by after the game to drink.

"We're holding on to our staff until the game is over. We're hoping for a nice rush," said Kopazz.

New to Palafox, Beef 'O' Brady's just recently opened downtown.
Owner Tracy Goodson says he's excited to see some new faces at his restaurant and see what impact the baseball season has on business.
He noticed Wahoos fans stopping by before the game and expects to see even more people on weekend games.

"I think it's going to be great. Downtown will really benefit from it,"  said Goodson.

The series against the Tennessee Smokies continues Friday at 6:30.
