Process begins for low grade medical marijuana

Updated: Monday, July 7 2014, 10:58 PM CDT
Florida regulators have begun the process for making a low grade strain of marijuana available early next year to seriously ill patients.

In June, Governor Rick Scott signed into law the use of the noneuphoric strain of marijuana to treat medical conditions like epilepsy and cancer.
Just five nurseries will grow, harvest and distribute the marijuana.

It is something that one Florida mother says can't come soon enough for her suffering daughter.

"Ray Ann is sick, and we are desperate, and we just...we know there is hope, you know something is working in Colorado, and we just want it here so badly for her," said Holly Mosley.

By law, the first licenses must be issued by the end of the year. Process begins for low grade medical marijuana
