41st Annual Boggy Bayou Mullet Festival opens in Niceville

The Boggy Bayou Mullet Festival is much more than your average seafood festival.

The annual festival in Niceville, Florida promises fun for the entire family with big-name entertainment, fine art and handmade crafts, numerous exhibits and a wide array of food concessions.

For many Niceville residents, the Mullet Festival is a chance to gather together, renew old friendships, and celebrate with neighbors.

The festival is also known for catering to families, keeping children entertained with such things as clowns, pony rides, and other attractions.

Aside from fried and smoked mullet, other menu items have included sautéed garlic herbed shrimp, alligator on a stick, crawfish bread, oysters Rockefeller, BBQ, shrimp Tamara, and hot apple dumplings with ice cream.

The festival features a large juried arts and craft show which features only original, high-quality work. All exhibitors are eligible for the "Best of Show" Purchase Award. Also, hand-made or decorated clothing will be available in the Boutique section.

The Boggy Bayou Mullet Festival has also become one of the South's best-known country music events. In recent years the Festival has featured nationally known country acts in a small, festival atmosphere.

Chris Janson, the singer of this summer's hit "Fix a Drink," comes to town on Friday, October 20th. On October 21st, Frankie Ballard will take the stage. His current single a cover of Bob Seger's classic rock track "You'll Accomp'ny Me."

Closing out the festival on Sunday, October 22nd is country music legend, Tanya Tucker. Some of Tucker's best-known 's hits include "Some Kind of Trouble," "It's a Little Too Late," "If Your Heart Ain't Busy Tonight," "Down to My Last Teardrop," "Strong Enough to Bend," and "Two Sparrows in a Hurricane."

Additional entertainment includes 80's cover band the Molly Ringwalds, family group Pelican212, Troy Laz, Dan Eubanks, The Mulligans and more.

The 41st Annual Boggy Bayou Mullet Festival Site is located at the intersection of College Boulevard and Highway 85 North in Niceville.

Gates open at 12 p.m. on Friday, October 20th, 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 21st, and 11 a.m. on Sunday, October 22nd.

Tickets can be purchased at the gate and will cost $15 on Friday, $15 on Saturday, and $10 on Sunday. Admission is free for children age 11 & under.

All tickets are general admission, and concerts are included in the ticket price. Armbands and individual tickets for rides and games are sold separately at the festival midway. You can view a list of local ticket outlets at www.boggybayoumulletfestival.info.
