Aircraft makes emergency landing near Opal Beach
SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. (WEAR) —
A small aircraft made an emergency landing Tuesday afternoon on Santa Rosa Island just after 3 p.m.
According to a spokesperson for the Gulf Islands National Seashore, the single-engine Cessna was trying to do a forced stall maneuver at 2,700 feet.
The pilot then experienced a problem with the engine and made an emergency landing on Highway 399 just west of Opal Beach.
The pilot and a passenger were on board and neither were injured.
The aircraft is registered to Sky Warrior Flight Training of Pensacola. The National Park Service has requested the Federal Aviation Administration investigate the incident.
