Corrections officials say a 28-year-old inmate stabbed another inmate to death Monday at the Bibb Correctional Facility. The facility is locked down while authorities investigate.

According to the Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC), Justin Sanders used a makeshift weapon to stab two inmates during a fight in one of the dorms around 11 a.m.

Jamie Marcus Witherspoon, 34, was pronounced dead at a hospital at 11:47 a.m.

The inmate that survived was treated at the facility's infirmary. That person's name isn't being released as a security measure, according to the ADOC.

Sanders is serving a 15-year sentence on a second-degree robbery conviction out of Jefferson County. Witherspoon was serving a 35-year sentence for a first-degree robbery in Tuscaloosa County.
