Authorities: Woman shot by husband near Walmart
PENSACOLA, Fla. (WEAR) —
The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office (ECSO) said a woman's husband shot her during a domestic violence incident Wednesday morning.
It happened near Hood Drive and North Palafox Street. Her husband, 44-year-old Curtis Brown, was arrested.
When deputies got to the scene they found his wife crying on the living room floor with a gunshot wound to her left thigh. Brown was sitting next to her applying pressure to the wound with a towel, according to a police report.
The victim told authorities she and Brown had been arguing over financial problems shortly before the shooting. She then went to do laundry and while folding a towel on the couch she looked down and realized she'd been shot.
At the hospital she told authorities she was afraid at the time of the shooting and that she believed her husband shot her.
Brown was arrested on charges of aggravated battery, possession of a weapon, cocaine possession, drug possession and possession of drug equipment.
He is currently being held at the Escambia County Jail without bond.
