Boston murder suspect arrested in Atmore


A 34-year-old man wanted for a June murder in Boston was arrested in Atmore, Alabama.

The U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Task Force arrested Andre Henderson as a fugitive from justice, according to

Members of the Boston Police Fugitive Unit reportedly traveled to Atmore to take custody of Henderson, who was arrested on Bragg Street.

On Monday June 26, at about 6:27 p.m., officers from the Boston Police Department responded to a call for a person shot in the area of 1357 Blue Hill Avenue. When they arrived, officers allegedly located a male victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

The victim was later identified as 29-year-old Jorrell Browne, of Boston, and was transported to a local hospital. He was later pronounced deceased.

He was transported back to Boston where he will face arraignment in Dorchester District Court for murder.

Henderson was believed to have been in Atmore for a couple of months.

“I want to commend my officers and our law enforcement partners for their tireless efforts which led to this arrest," Boston Police Commissioner William B. Evans said. "This suspect thought he could avoid facing justice by hiding out of state – but you can’t escape the reach of the U.S. Marshals or the Boston Police Department."
