UPDATE: Scene cleared, substance at building on Ely Road deemed nonharmful
PENSACOLA, Fla. (WEAR) —
Escambia Fire Rescue (EFR) and the Escambia County Sheriff's Office (ECSO) responded to reports of a suspicious package Wednesday at a building in the 8700 block of Ely Road in Pensacola.
A white substance was leaking out of the package at the Capgemini building, but around 2 p.m. Wednesday, the ECSO deemed the substance nonharmful and the scene was cleared.
Hazmat crews were on the scene just before noon.
Authorities confirmed that approximately 20 people were evacuated and quarantined before the area was deemed safe.
A Channel 3 News photographer was under quarantine.
