One person aboard a vessel near Destin had to get a tow from the Coast Guard Saturday.

Around 5:16 a.m., the Coast Guard Sector Mobile got a ring from a person on the beach reporting a vessel light signaling S.O.S., which is an international code signal for distress.

Watchstanders diverted Coast Guard crews to determine a location and launch a 45-foot response boat from the Coast Guard Destin Station.

The crew arrived at 6:43 a.m. and boarded the vessel, which was no longer signaling S.O.S at that time.

The owner was unable to get the engine going after boarding, so the boat crew took the vessel in tow and transported it to Dewy Destin Marina just before 10 a.m.

No injuries were reported.
