An eagle that was rescued from a Cantonment road in early May died at the Wildlife Sanctuary of Northwest Florida.

A spokesperson at the sanctuary confirmed that the eagle died from liver damage and toxicities.

Alexis Rivers and her husband, Rotario, said the eagle injured itself by flying into the car driving ahead of them on May 6.

Rotario then helped the bird by carefully removing it from the road.

No further comments or information has been released on the eagle's death.
