Police: 13-year-old brought stolen gun inside Dreamland Skate Center
ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WEAR) —
An all-night New Year's Eve celebration at a local skating rink ended with three juveniles behind bars. The Escambia County Sheriff's Office (ECSO) said at least three arrests were made Sunday night at Dreamland Skate Center, located at 2607 E Olive Road in Pensacola, Fla.
ECSO spokesperson Maj. Andrew Hobbs told Channel 3 News a 13-year-old was arrested by off-duty officers for carrying a stolen 9mm handgun.
"During the investigation, it was determined that there were possibly other weapons being brought in," Maj. Hobbs said. That's when law enforcement officers and Dreamland owners made the decision to shut the skating event down.
Hobbs said a fight involving 50 to 100 juveniles broke out inside as deputies attempted to get everyone out of the building. More than a dozen deputies, both off duty and those who responded to the scene, were on hand to clear out the group of kids, he said.
Two other juveniles were arrested for obstruction. Maj. Hobbs said more arrests are expected to be made.
One parent took to social media to warn others about the incident. No one was injured in this incident.
At this time, law enforcement has not provided names of the juveniles involved.
