ECSO sergeant arrested on battery charge, placed on administrative leave
ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WEAR) —
An Escambia County Sheriff's Office sergeant has been arrest and is facing a misdemeanor charge for battery.
According to the arrest report, Johnny Dewayne Perkins allegedly slammed his girlfriend's head against his car's dashboard and punched her in the face on Sunday.
The girlfriend told Escambia County Sheriff's deputies she got into an argument with Perkins at a bar on Pensacola Beach.
According to the arrest report, the argument moved to Perkins' vehicle and that is where he allegedly battered her.
The victim told deputies she ran to the bathroom, got a ride to a relative's home, and called the sheriff's office.
The sheriff's office said Perkins has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the criminal investigation.
A booking photo for Perkins is not available because law enforcement officers are exempt under Florida law.
According to the Escambia County Jail website, Perkins was released from jail on Tuesday.
