Escaped Alabama inmate recaptured
MCINTOSH, Ala. (WEAR) —
A state inmate who walked off a work site in Creola, Alabama, on May 17 has been recaptured.
Alabama Department of Corrections says 39-year-old Billie Joe Turner was taken back into custody around 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
Authorities were led to a home in McIntosh in Washington County where Turner surrendered without incident. The owner of the home was questioned, but no arrest have been made at this time.
Turner was assigned to the Mobile Work Release Center and was pending a parole hearing in August. Washington County deputies and Creola police helped in the arrest.
Turner is serving a 15-year sentence for a 2015 conviction of attempting to distribute a controlled substance in Mobile County. He faces charges for the escape.
