The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) has released dashboard camera video of a commercial truck driver who tried to run a Florida Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) Trooper off the road on Tuesday.

Law enforcement officers from two states are searching for the driver, identified only as a white male, after his vehicle failed to stop at the weigh scales on Interstate 10.

When the CVE trooper pulled up beside the truck with lights and sirens activated, the driver twice swerved into the trooper's lane, almost hitting the patrol vehicle.

FHP sent out the following release on Friday:

On 01/16/18 FHP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (C.V.E) troopers were monitoring CMV traffic on I-10 MM 3 in the median at the weigh stations to ensure CMVs were entering the weigh stations as required. At approximately 10:05 AM troopers observed a white straight truck/ black dump trailer (tree service CMV combination) bypass the weigh station. Troopers attempted a traffic stop on the CMV and activated his emergency lights and sirens. The CMV failed to stop. Troopers attempted to pull up next to CMV to make sure the driver could see him, at that point they crossed into Alabama. The driver made a deliberate movement with the CMV combination causing the trailer to go into the trooper’s lane almost striking his patrol vehicle. The driver did this once again with the same results. Eventually the driver lost control of the CMV combination and crashed in the wood line. The driver fled on foot. Alabama State Patrol, Baldwin County Sheriff's and Atmore CI. At this time the driver is an unknown white male. The driver is being tracked by K-9.

It is unknown why the driver fled and what is in the truck. The trooper in pursuit was not injured in the encounter.
