The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) is looking for a driver who took off after a crash on Highway 98 in Santa Rosa County.

According to the press release, a black Chevrolet sedan rear-ended another car near Sound Hammock Drive around 5:20 p.m. Wednesday.

The driver who was hit, Nancy Garcia, told troopers that the other car initially stopped.

The man who was driving changed seats with a female passenger, who asked Garcia not to report the accident, because the man would go to jail. She then drove away.

Garcia told troopers the man and the woman appeared to be in their 20s, and they had a three- or four-year-old child in a car seat.

According to the report, the man was white, with longer blond hair and a beard, and he had a tattoo of the word "way" on his chest.

The woman was also white, with dark hair. Garcia told troopers she glimpsed a tattoo on the woman's left calf, but she couldn't describe it.

Both the man and woman were described has having heavy builds.

Garcia and her passenger were unhurt.

If you have information that can help investigators, you're asked to call the Florida Highway Patrol at 850-484-5000 or Santa Rosa Crime Stoppers at 437-STOP.
