Freeze Watch Friday Night

Freeze Watch in effect for coastal locations Friday night into Saturday morning. Sub freezing temps are possible.

A cold front sweeping across the area on Thursday will bring some of the coldest air of the season to the WEAR area. Temperatures will rise to about 60 Thursday afternoon and then really begin to fall Thursday night into Friday morning. Area lows overnight will be in the middle to upper 30s for coastal areas and inland locations will be around freezing Friday morning.

Friday will be a sunny day with very chilly temps. Most cities will stay in the 40s Friday, maybe making it to 50 right on the coast. By Friday night, the coldest air of the season moves in and the National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Watch for coastal locations Friday night into Saturday morning. Temperatures in the area under the watch may fall below freezing and could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation. Inland locations will be even colder, possibly falling into the 20s overnight Friday into Saturday morning, but because those areas have already dealt with sub freezing temps this season, they're not included in the watch.
