Gulf Power donates $103,000 to groups that help veterans
PENSACOLA, Fla. (WEAR) —
Three groups that help veterans got big donations Tuesday.
Gulf Power gave a total of $103,000. The money was raised at their Clay Shoot for America's Heroes event.
The money went to Friends of Sims Veterans Nursing Home in Panama City and Pathways for Change to help fund their transitional home for female veterans.
3rd Chance, Inc. also received a donation to help with their veterans housing complex in Fort Walton Beach.
"Gulf Power's not alone in appreciating our veterans across Northwest Florida, as I said earlier I think this whole region just values them as members of this community. And we need to remember there's so many of them still in need, after they come home after serving us," said Stan Connally, CEO of Gulf Power.
This year's donation was the largest yet from the clay shoot event. Over the last five years, they've raised more than $400,000 for veteran related programs.
