House fire shuts down roads in south Walton County
WALTON COUNTY, Fla. (WEAR) —
One person was taken to a local hospital after a house fire near Sandcastle Court in south Walton County.
South Walton Fire District fire chief Richard Talbert told Channel 3's Christopher Saul they received several calls around 9:20 a.m. Monday.
The home was fully engulfed in flames when crews got to the scene. The fire extended to the neighboring home.
Neighbors alerted the renters, who were able to evacuate. The tenant was hospitalized for observation.
"Our primary concern was getting them away from the home and safe and we've able to work and get them some accommodations and transportation away from the incident," said Talbert.
A local utility company is on scene due to an active gas leak. The State Fire Marshal is on scene investigating the cause of the fire.
The road between County Road 83 and Blue Mountain Road in south Walton County was shut down for about six hours. It has reopened as of 2 p.m. CST.
