Hurricane Nicole heading for Bermuda

Hurricane Nicole is a category 3 storm Thursday.

Hurricane Nicole is an extremely dangerous category 3 hurricane as of 7am Thursday morning. Early Thursday morning Nicole was a category 4 storm, downgraded to a 3 in the 7am advisory. The storm has sustained winds of 125 miles per hour and is closing in on Bermuda. Nicole may make a direct hit on the island this morning or early Thursday afternoon. Residents are already experiencing extreme weather conditions and the National Hurricane Center (NHC) points out that storm surge of 6 to 8 feet and rainfall totals of 5 to 8 inches will be possible. The powerful winds will also be a major threat through the day. Elsewhere, the tropics are quiet and no tropical development is expected over the next 5 days.

Locally, Northwest Florida can expect another sunny day with warmer highs. The seasonable peak temperature is 80 degrees but we’ll be closer to the middle 80s Thursday afternoon.
