International Women's Day
PENSACOLA, Fla. (WEAR) —
Where would the world be without women?
On March 8th, we take the time to honor half the world's population by observing International Women's Day.
This annual global day celebrates the cultural, political, social and economic achievements of women, and calls to action the acceleration of gender parity.
According to the International Women's Day website, International Women's Day has taken place annually for well over a century, with the first March 8th gathering supported by over a million people in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland.
How to Observe
There are many events going on worldwide. If you are participating in an event, use the hashtags #InternationalWomensDay and #PressforProgress when posting on social media.
