Kids Count ranks Florida #40 in child well being
The new 'Kids Count Data Book' ranks Florida among the lowest in the nation for the well being of children. The Kids Count study looks at factors like poverty levels, health and safety, education and family.
Florida ranks at number 40, down from number 37 in 2015. The report says Florida is making strides in some areas, like education, but other factors are getting worse.
Twenty-four percent of children in Florida live in poverty. The parents of 32 percent of the children in the state lack secure employment.
Forty percent of the state's children live in single-parent homes.
