Local bingo operators convicted of laundering more than $5.8 million
OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WEAR) —
Two people have been convicted of operating an illegal gambling business.
Larry and Dixie Masino were convicted Wednesday after an eight-day trial.
The jury found the couple guilty of wire fraud conspiracy, operating an illegal gambling business, and money laundering conspiracy. Masino was also convicted of 18 counts of money laundering and Dixie was convicted of 20 counts of money laundering.
The Masinos owned and operated Racetrack Bingo, Inc. in Fort Walton Beach.
They held bingo games that allegedly raised money for local charities in Okaloosa County, but investigators said the Masinos were really using the money to pay themselves and their employees.
They laundered more than $5.8 million between 2006 and 2015.
They're each facing up to 35 years in prison. They'll be sentenced in May.
