Mary Esther tween raises money for classmates with lemonade stand

A 12-year-old from Mary Esther has run a lemonade stand every summer to raise money for school supplies for his classmates.

Last year he raised $370 and his stand is now back open for business.

You can find the stand under a rainbow umbrella on Morgan Lane. Jonathan Mick calls it "Lemonade for a Cause."

He's been putting on the lemonade stand for the last four years.

Jonathan said he started this cause after noticing some of his classmates didn't have certain school supplies.

"There were some kids at my school, Florosa Elementary to be exact, that didn't have school supplies like pencils, paper, etc," Jonathan explained. "There are also some kids that don't have backpacks so they have to carry like grocery bags."

Through the donations he makes selling lemonade, Jonathan is able to purchase those needed supplies like erasers, pencil boxes, and folders.
