Schools in Escambia, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa counties will reopen on Tuesday.

Escambia School Superintendent Malcolm Thomas announced Monday that district operations will return to normal.

“Thankfully, we have been spared the impact of Hurricane Irma," Thomas said. "Local weather forecasts indicate more favorable conditions than previously anticipated."

The Santa Rosa School District is monitoring the storm, but officials expect to resume normal operations on Tuesday. If the area sees excessive winds, or if any school needs to open as a shelter, the plan could change. They urge parents to monitor district or school social media accounts for any updates.

The Okaloosa School District posted on their Facebook page Monday morning that all schools will reopen on Tuesday. They will notify parents by phone at 2:00 p.m. Monday.

The Okaloosa School Board will hold their scheduled meeting Monday at 6:00 p.m. at the Niceville Central complex.
