Outdoor activity cancelations extended for Escambia County (FL) School District
ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WEAR) —
The Escambia County School District (ECSD) in Escambia County, Florida has extended the cancelation of all outdoor activities. Wednesday, the school district announced any sports or outdoor activity scheduled for Thursday, January 4th and Friday, January 5th won't go on due to low tempeatures.
Outdoor activities and sports will resume on Saturday, January 6th. District schools and transportation will maintain their regular schedules, according to Superintendent Malcolm Thomas.
Superintendent Malcolm Thomas has announced the extension of the cancellation of all OUTDOOR sports/activities for Thursday, January 4th, and Friday, January 5th, due to low temperatures. All district outdoor sports/activities will resume on Saturday, January 6, 2018.
Superintendent Thomas said, "District schools and transportation will maintain their regular schedules. This only affects outdoor activities and sports."
"We are continuing to monitor weather predictions and these cancellations are to help limit exposure to low temperatures and wind chill for our students and their families," said Superintendent Thomas. "We appreciate everyone's continued attention to the need to dress students appropriately while walking to and from school, or waiting at bus stops."
