Pensacola Council gets backlash after allowing Satanic prayer
PENSACOLA, Fla. (WEAR) —
There has been some backlash after reports of plans for a Satanic organization to deliver the invocation at next month's Pensacola City Council meeting.
A post circulating on social media is asking people to contact City Council President Charles Bare and demand he put a stop to it.
Bare released a statement saying the invocation selection process is usually handled by the City Clerk. He said when he was made aware of the request he recommended the group be given a slot in December.
Now Bare says he's calling for a special meeting July 7th to discuss what to do next.
That meeting will start at 5:30.
