Pensacola man convicted of using a stun gun to rob man
PENSACOLA, Fla. (WEAR) —
A Pensacola man has been convicted by an Escambia County Jury of robbing a man after using a stun gun on the victim.
Derick Levell Jones, 31, was convicted of robbery with a weapon and battery.
In February 2017, the State Attorney's Office said the victim was walking to the Latin Mini Mart on North W Street to wire his family some money. When the victim left the mini mart, he noticed Jones following him.
Authorities said Jones grabbed the victim and used a stun gun to take the victim down. Jones stole $200 from the victim's pocket.
Jones was later identified by the victim in a photo line-up.
Jones is scheduled to be sentenced on March 15. He qualifies for as a habitual felony offender and prison releasee offender and faces a minimum mandatory sentence of 30 years.
