Pensacola man sentenced to 30 years for child pornography
ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WEAR) —
An Escambia County man will spend 30 years in state prison for possessing child pornography.
Circuit Judge Edward Nickinson sentenced 40-year-old Jason Sapp based on evidence gathered by investigators with the Escambia County Sheriff's Office (ECS0) back in 2015.
ECSO investigators executed a search warrant on Sapp's computer and electronic devices after they discovered he had child pornography.
After finding several images, investigators interviewed him. Sap admitted he downloaded the images but claimed he hadn't looked at the images in several years.
"Forensic analysis of his devices revealed he had accessed several files mere days before the search warrant was executed," the State Attorney's Office wrote in a news release.
Sapp entered a plea of no contest to the charges on March 22, 2017. He was designated a sexual offender and will be required to register as such.
