ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WEAR) —
A suspect is dead and an investigation is underway in Pensacola after a sexual assault suspect reportedly killed himself. It happened Friday morning at a home in the area of Sonia Street.
According to the Pensacola Police Department (PPD), the victim told responding officers she was attacked by her ex-boyfriend inside her home while she was cooking on Friday. Police said the woman already had an injunction against him.
The victim told police the suspect, who has not been identified, sexually assaulted her for four hours, according to PPD Public Information Officer (PIO) Mike Wood.
After he left the home, the victim called police and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
The Escambia County Sheriff's Office and ECSO's SWAT team got involved because the suspect traveled into Escambia County.
Escambia County Sheriff's Office public information officer Amber Southard said the suspect went inside a warehouse on old Barrancas Avenue and hanged himself while deputies tried to serve the warrant.
