Robot at Sacred Heart helps surgeons in operating room
PENSACOLA, Fla. (WEAR) —
Sacred Heart Hospital has a new state of the art device in the operating room.
The hospital unveiled a new robotic surgery aide called the Da Vinci Surgical System XI.
The robot allows the surgeon to make smaller incisions, reduce recovery time and blood loss, as well as perform more surgeries every day.
Sacred Heart Hospital received two of the $2 million machines.
The other robot is at Sacred Heart of the Emerald Coast.
Hospital officials said the Emerald Coast Unit has already helped doctors perform 10 surgeries.
