The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) is investigating a single-vehicle crash involving a sixteen-passenger van on I-65 southbound at the 40 mile marker in Baldwin County.

The southbound lane is blocked and there are reported injuries.

The van had Mexico plates and was carrying 15-16 passengers, all of Mexican descent. All of the van occupants' papers are said to be in order.

Deputies say the van blew a tire. They were not far behind and say they witnessed the accident.

Three were reportedly airlifted and four were taken by ambulance to North Baldwin Medical Center.

The rest are being driven to the hospital by sheriffs, but are not in police custody.
