Surrender your exotic pets without penalty during Amnesty Day
If you own an exotic pet you can no longer care for, you can take it to the Gulfarium this weekend.
They're teaming up with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) to host an Exotic Pet Amnesty Day.
Owners can surrender their exotic pets without a penalty.
FWC said the goal is to reduce the number of exotic animals illegally released into the wild.
"When an owner surrenders a pet with us, they can feel comfortable knowing that their pet is going to be rehomed with someone who is experienced and knowledgeable about how to take care of their pet," explained Exotic Pet Amnesty Specialist Elain Franklin.
FWC said many of the animals surrendered are pythons and sugar gliders.
The event is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Gulfarium in Fort Walton Beach.
