Suspected hit-and-run driver charged in deadly crash
ESCAMBIA COUNTY, Fla. (WEAR) —
Authorities have arrested the man they believe is responsible for a deadly hit-and-run in Escambia County. Lucas Scott Beaty, 28, was arrested for the crash that happened on Fairfield Drive in November of 2017.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), Eldred Williams was hit by a vehicle that left the scene of the crash around 9:01 p.m. Evidence at the scene led authorities to the Chevrolet that was involved.
Further investigation led the FHP to Beaty, who was booked into the Escambia County Jail Monday on a $55,00 bond. Beaty is charged with felony counts of leaving the scene of a crash involving death and tampering with evidence. He is expected to appear in circuit court March 8th.
