Trash talk: Earth Day cleanup scheduled in Santa Rosa

In honor of Earth Day this Saturday, Santa Rosa officials are calling for a county-wide cleanup.

For three decades, Santa Rosa Clean Community System has taken part in the Great American Cleanup and this year is no different.

Executive director Kevin Smith said cleaning up the community is one environmental project everyone can get on board with.

"It helps the environment, it helps the wildlife, it helps keep our waterways clean," said Kevin. "It helps the aesthetics of this beautiful county that we live in, from our pristine beaches down in Navarre to our beautiful forest and farmland in the northern end of the county."

Last year, volunteers filled four dumpsters with trash, this year they're aiming for five. To take part, all you have to do is show up Saturday at 8 a.m. to one of the project sites listed here.

You don't have to live in Santa Rosa County to take part in the Earth Day cleanup. Organized events are happening all across Northwest Florida.
