USA Hospitals to eliminate 49 positions due reduced funding
MOBILE, Ala. (WPMI) —
The University of South Alabama Hospitals have sent out a notice stating that 21 job positions will be eliminated from the USA Mitchell Cancer Institute due to reduced federal funding, as well as 28 positions within USA Health:
The USA Mitchell Cancer Institute has been affected by a substantial reduction in federal reimbursements. Due to this severe cut in federal funding, USA MCI has made the difficult decision to eliminate 21 positions. The staff reductions are across the board, in both clinic and research areas.
Mitchell Cancer Institute does not anticipate closing any programs as a result of this restructuring, and all services will continue to be offered. Patient care will not be affected. Affected employees will be eligible to apply for other positions within the USA system.
In addition, outsourcing of certain functions at USA Health has resulted in the elimination of 28 positions. Many of these reductions involve outsourcing of computer help desk functions. Affected employees will be eligible to apply for other positions within the USA system.
