Vandals break vases off headstones at Bayview Memorial Park
PENSACOLA, Fla. (WEAR) —
Four marble vases and one granite vase were vandalized overnight at Bayview Memorial Park on Scenic Highway.
Officer Britney Sturgeon said the damage was discovered Tuesday morning by maintenance personnel and reported to police around 9 a.m. The vases were broken off headstones and a terra cotta vase that had been placed on a grave was damaged.
Sturgeon said total damage was estimated at approximately $2,075.
Cemetery personnel are in the process of notifying family members, Sturgeon said. The headstones did not have any markings on them indicating they were based upon recent vandalisms in Jewish cemeteries elsewhere in the country.
Anyone having information on the incident is asked to contact Pensacola Police Department at 435 – 1900 or Crime Stoppers at 433 – STOP.
