A Walmart in Northwest Florida is one of the first in the country to get cutting edge payment technology.

Scan & Go is now up and running at the Walmart Supercenter in Santa Rosa Beach. The system allows customers to scan items as they shop. The device also processes payments, so customers can skip the line.

The retailer started testing Scan & Go in a couple dozen stores last year. Now they're rolling it out to 100 more locations, including Santa Rosa Beach.

“Walmart continues to look for innovative ways to help customers save not only money but time,” said Santa Rosa Beach Store Manager Tyson Hall. “Our customers will find this new service will transform their in-store shopping experience and offer even more convenience.”

The app is available for Android or iOS devices. Customers without a smartphone can pick up a scanner with their shopping cart and breeze through a mobile express lane to pay.

Walmart operates more than 4,600 stores in the United States, along with 660 Sam's Club warehouses. In October 2017, the company announced they're investing $11 billion in store growth, remodels, and innovative programs like Scan & Go.
