Weekend Weather Maker
A strong cold front is prompting Blizzard Warnings, High Wind Warnings and Red Flag Warnings in the western half of the United States. The complex system is heading our way.
Storm Prediction Center has put a portion of the WEAR-TV area in an Enhanced risk (3 out of 5) for severe weather. This includes Santa Rosa County and points west. Okaloosa and Walton County under a Slight risk (2 out of 5). The Friday morning update continues to show the main line of showers and storms to come the second half of the day on Saturday. Stay weather aware between Saturday afternoon - overnight. The primary threats will be damaging winds gusting up to 60 mph and isolated flash flooding, but isolated tornadoes not out of the question. Be sure to have a way to receive watches and warnings.
We are expecting 2-4 inches of rain with isolated locations on the higher end of rain totals. Poor drainage and low lying areas that are prone to flooding will likely see flash flooding late Saturday into early Sunday morning.
