A day care worker in Florida is out of a job after she was arrested on a charge of child abuse.

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office said Cheryl Bolton slapped a 9-month-old baby in her care. She assaulted the baby while changing his diaper, according to deputies.

The allegations surfaced back in April.

Agents with the Department of Children & Families became involved in the investigation. Photos of the baby showed red marks on his face, consistent with being slapped, according to investigators in Sarasota.

The sheriff's office said Bolton became frustrated during the diaper change and slapped the child.

She was arrested last Friday.

Bolton faces one count of child abuse without great bodily harm
