Comment: I'm on the fence, my parents are on social security so a payment would help them. However, I doubt when it comes time for me to retire in 30 + years that SS will even be around, even though I'm paying into it. I also didn't receive a pay raise this year because of the economy and we won't receive one next year. Everyone has to suffer. from Pensacola/FL by D
Comment: Why not give the seniors their Social Security raise? It doesn't matter how you disguise it. The result is the same. It's the same amount coming out of my pocket. from Pace by Sandra
Comment: support our own, not foreign peoples. we are in need also. sspend 5 billion a day in the u.s.a. from century,fl. by tom
Comment: They deserve more. from Pensacola by Timothy
Comment: Definitely yes! Seniors have worked hard and paid into the system. The govmnt. needs to take care of our seniors. from DeFuniak Springs, FL by Cesare
Comment: A total cost of $13 billion is a drop in the bucket when compared to what congress appropriates for pork and other items that we rarely know about. I'm not a senior who will be receiving this, but I'm all for it. from Navarre, FL by Peggy
Comment: we give billions of dollars to foreign nations who hate us, we give billions to all kinds of frivilous ventures, the seniors have done their part and now it is time to look after them the very best we can. I say we stop giving every foreign nation any money at all and be more generous with our seniors. from Pensacola, FL by Dick
Comment: Just look in the stores EVERYTHING has gone up! How can you not support the elder and disabled ? Its just the right thing to do in these times, help those in need. from robertsdale,al by mike
Comment: They count on it. It might help for Christmas etc. from Navarre FL by Ron
Comment: NO WAY DO I AGREE, IF THEY HAVE THAT MUCH MONEY WHY CANT THEY GIVE US THE COLA? THIS COUNTRY IS GETTING MORE STUPID EACH DAY. HOW MUCH MORE DO THE GOVT. EXPECT US TO TAKE? from SEMINOLE AL. by B.W
Comment: I feel they should recieve the $250 because of the fixed income they are on. from Pensacola, Fl by Don
Comment: Yes..without question. We have given money to banks, car manufactures and who knows what else. I would think we could do something for our seniors and vets. from Navarre, FL by Ron
Comment: Yes! I think that it should be more. Have you ever noticed that nobody ever complains about the deficit when our leaders are voting themselves raises and bebifits? from Pensacola by Barely
Comment: no i dont agree with the president about the $250 where is the money coming from the working class people the goverment is already in a trillion or more. THE ONLY WAY I WILL AGREE IS IF CONGRESS PAYS FOR IT OUT OF THERE SALARYS. from pensacola by Jacob
Comment: Social security writes me every two months saying they are gonna stop my ss over a mailing address, I've been here for 25 yrs . My check gets direct deposit. What has that got to do with my address???? I have to call ...Do you honestly think they will get it right ...I have my doubts. from Navarre,Fl by Marcia
Comment: So many seniors live below the poverty line, not enough food, hot in the summer, cold in the winter, doing anything to cut costs. They, more than anyone deserve a little "pot of gold". from milton by kathy
Comment: I am on SS but I disagree that we should be compensated for no increase next year. New jobs need to be created to get folks off unemployment. Maybe Obama feels sorry for us old folks since he got his 1.4 million prize. from pace/florida by joe
Comment: I am absolutely in favor of $250 payout to social security recipients. I want to know where the government gets it's figures to decide whether to give a raise to SS recipients. So far I’m paying more on all my utilities than I was a year or so ago, not to mention groceries and many other items necessary to live a (below) average life. Now I’m paying almost twice as much for car tags and drivers license. Right in the middle of a recession (depression) the state of Florida decides to double it’s rates. Gee thanks, FL, great timing I need some relief. A $250 pay-out certainly would help. PS Your quote is incorrect. We didn't get a raise last year either. from Pace, FL by R
Comment: President Obama placed a freeze on Social Security for the next two years. There is no freeze on power bills, gas bills, etc. People living on Social Security will have to pay those increases with out any increases in Social Security!! from Pensacola,FL by June
Comment: I THINK YOUR IDEAS STINK TRY TO LIVE ON 630.00 AMOUNTH YOU WONLD NEVER MAKE IT from LAUREL HILL FLA by TERRY
Comment: The real question is why the Gov. screwed all the senior citzens by not giving them an increase.Yet.. the SOB's in our Govenment have no problem over each year voting "themselves raises" the Gov bitches who are not on a fixed income need more and more. Basically a bunch of political whores and pimps. from Pensacola,FL by Flower
Comment: Yes, I support this plan. Many of our senior citizens and disabled are barely getting by, most of them do not have the proper food they need and are forced to sacrifice a lot of the things they need for daily survival. from Perdido Beach by Kay
Comment: I'm confused. I thought the President promised that he will not approve the new health care plan if it cost the taxpayers another another dime. The VA is already cutting back on some benefits. I wonder what they're planning to do with Social Security's money.. .hmmm
Comment: A very good idea from Pensacola by Don
Comment: Yes, I do believe they should get the $250.00. It appears that everyone involved with the Government is getting a cost of living increase and then some. Its ashame they don't wish to take care of our seniors. from Mary Esther, FL by Alan
Comment: Just one question "Where is the money coming from" I am a senior and although it would be nice. I don't think the country can keep spending without income. from Pensacola, FL by Dennis
Comment: Since SS recipients received such a large increase a couple of years ago, I don't think it's necessary in the light of the huge deficit the country has. from Pensacola, FL by Linda
Comment: If we weren't involved in a war (for the past 8 years) and we weren't recovering from a recessionary period; I would normally say heck yes I would support it, but honestly, today WHERE THE HECK IS THE MONEY COMING FROM? We're in so much debt now, that the President's yet unborn great-great-great grandchildren will still be paying off the debts being piled up by this country in the past nine or ten months. Let's resort to what we print on our money: "IN GOD WE TRUST". from Mary Esther, FL. by Tom
Comment: His last $250 bought me a pistol this will buy another. from Pensacola, Fl by Rich
Comment: yes, but I think the local governments should pay for not the Feds. from pcola by jay
Comment: Even though I would benefit from this, I would rather do without if it adds to the national debt. That being said, I would like to find this fantasy-land of negative inflation...anybody see their bills go down from last year? from Fort Walton Beach, FL by Earl
Comment: No, it won't even begin to cover the increase in medicare insurance for 2010 plus the fact that it really isn't $250.00 because this is income and subject to taxation! Another Obama scam that looks good but is just another ploy to increase the debt. from Crestview, Fl by William
Comment: if you had to live on s.s.you would understand how hard it is to make end meet... from crestview by edith
Comment: Since so many people are having problems paying for medician, then put this amount in a credit acount only to be used by drug stores for them to pay for there medician. from Pensacola, FL by Sandra
