| 40.9% | No |
Comment: There should be 1 area at all the hospitals for smokers to go to smoke. If it is out of the way from the main entrance, there should not be any problems with other people from Ft Walton Beach, Fl by Joan
Comment: What about West Florida Hospital? It looks bad when the employees are outside smoking.
Comment: It is our right to be in a smoke free environment while in public places. Smokers are harming themselves as well as others. from Pensacola, Fl by Martha
Comment: to me this is a no brainer from pensacola by dee
Comment: I think smokers have taken enough of a beating. As more quit how will they make up the tax shortage. Maybe they will start taxing our trips to public bathrooms next. Maybe the hospitals will enjoy less people coming to visit patients since they can't even go outside to smoke. from Pensacola, FL by S
Comment: Smoking as a stress releaver is such a lame excuse. The side effects of smoking is so much worse than what stress is going t do to you. Smoking was a very long lasting fad. It was so yesterday. from Crestview/ FL by Damion
Comment: Why,they have places for smoker to go...so what is the problem...do they worry about overeating or any other habits. No,just on smokers.Bad enough that they ban it in resturants and other places. But where we work also.Next thing they do is wanting us to ask permission to eat,go to restroom..what happen to freedom... by Carolyn
Comment: Patients sometimes have vistors that smoke. Dont make the vistors not want to at the hospital. Have a smoke area and enforce that. from Pensacola FL by Tabitha
Comment: many patients and their family members smoke, what will the hospital do make the family member leave the hospital grounds? many of these people will smoke anyway. from pensacola/fl by Beth
Comment: I have worked in the medical field for 20 years and the smokers take advantage of non smokers in that they take more breaks and for longer periods of time while nonsmokers have to cover their work and ours. Also I can't take a 30 minute lunch break in a 16 hour shift without being interrupted, the smokers get theirs and then some. from Milton by Colleen
Comment: The "hospitals" have not gone smoke free. Is who is in charge of the hospital admin who is in charge of regulating smoking. Probably a good intent but the results will cause more issues with staff with big brother,,excuse me the "hospital" beig over them. AS long as its outside the building what is the issue. If it was not for health issues we wouldnt need a "hospital" Sickness is good busniess. from Pensacola,FL by Flower
Comment: I agree; but as a reformed/non-smoker,I emphatize with those smokers that work in those buildings. It is a very nasty habit, but an extremely addictive one. I remember quitting "cold turkey", it was about my third or fourth try. But it can be done. from Mary Esther, FL. by Tom
Comment: If those with the power want everyone to quit smoking then why don't the pressure the cigarette manufactures to quit making them. Then smokers will not only be outcasts we'll be criminals. But, the money won't let that happen. from Pensacola, FL by Terry
Comment: I think it is great that they are going smoke free. Now they need to go fatty free. It's hard to take advice about my health from doctors and nurses who smell like a cigarette or can hardly move around the room without bumping something. from Pace, FL by Judie
Comment: Yes, I do agree. They have a responsibility to the community to promote a healthy lifestyle. Part of that responsibility is promoting awareness and setting an example. from Milton, FL by Rob
Comment: Absolutely! No one, especially patients and their families should be exposed to 2nd hand smoke while trying to get well. And most smokers do not respect others by staying in the smoking area - they smoke wherever they want and are seldom confronted. from Pensacola, FL by Robert
Comment: i think it is a bit overboard...and hypocritical in a way...if thats the case...then stop all harmful practices... from p'cola fl by h
Comment: A lot of people still smoke and find it enjoyable and relaxing. My Mom had a cigaette burning in every room. When I was four I used to follow Mom from one room to another grabbing a drag. I have never really enjoyed cigarette tho and never spent much time wiht them. Secondhand smoke outdoors is so diffuse that no one needs to be concerned about it. Big Brother is watching, that's all. from Milton by Gene
Comment: Smoker have rights too. If they are outside away from the doors ,they should be able to light up. I have not smoke for 6 years , but I remember what it's like to be told you can not smoke here, and how hard it is to quit. from Jay by David
Comment: What a Great idea! from Pensacola, Fl by Jerry
Comment: People in health care who intentionally practice unhealthy habits are hypocrites. Some view Christians and ministers/priests as such if they don't live up to the Good Book. Just like we expect clergy to set the example, health care providers need to also. Additionally, second hand smoke kills. Therefore smoking should not be allowed at least at medical facilities. from DeFuniak Springs, FL by Cesare
Comment: This is something that should have been done a long time ago. I currently travel around visiting and working at other hospitals and several of them have smoke free campuses. Going smoke free will: 1. Get rid of the nasty smell that lingers by the entrance ways. 2. Increase employee productivity. 3. Eliminate all the unsightly cigarette butts, that are not eco-friendly, around the entrance doors. 4. Make for a more healthy environment for employees, patients and visitors. I totally support this effort. Although I don't smoke now, I did for many years. from Gulf Breeze, FL by Rick
Comment: As an ex-smoker and now filled with allergies, I absolutely agree with, of all places, the three hospitals becoming smoke free! I believe ALL hospitals throughout the Country should be smoke free! from Pensacola, FL by Kathryn
Comment: I think the whole world should be smoke free. from Milton/Fl by James
Comment: Smoke Free? No! I would much rather them to mop their floors and be "Staff Infection Free". from Pensacola by Angie
Comment: I'm not a smoker, but I think they're going overboard, like everything else. Why not a designated smoking area??? from PENSACOLA,FL by Barby
Comment: Don't we all want good health? from Pensacola by Virginia
Comment: I think that its great if people want to quit. Though i think its wrong for them to be forced.
Comment: Best thing they could do. from Navarre, Fl. 32566 by C J
Comment: Hospitals exist to heal. Allow only that which contributes to healing. from Pensacola by Autumn
Comment: abut time..
